05-04-2007: Memories of the Middle of Nowhere
A scene from the flat Kansas prairie land (from this New York Times article) triggers some old memories of my year spent at Pittsburg State University in Kansas at the turn of the century. We used to drive for miles on the local highways on the absolutely flat landscape and the scene was like you see a barn and maybe every couple of miles you might see some cows grazing and then another 20 miles or so another barn might pop up. The horizon was always wide and open. It was truly big sky country.
This one though is about an ongoing debate about the other common villain of the Kansas prairie land.
